NYC Hits 100,000 Potholes Filled
Mayor Mamdani and City crews fill more potholes in 100 days than any administration in 11 years.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City crews filled the 100,000th pothole in the first 100 days of the year, setting a record not seen in more than a decade.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani marked the milestone on Olympia Boulevard in Staten Island, capping an accelerated effort to repair streets battered by a historic winter.
“For weeks, DOT crews have been out before sunrise, filling potholes and making our streets safer and more accessible,” Mamdani said.

The city conducted three intensive Saturday pothole blitzes to accelerate repairs. Each blitz deployed 80 crews starting at 6 a.m., completing a week’s worth of repairs in a single day:
- March 14 — 7,200 potholes filled
- March 21 — 8,000 potholes filled
- March 28 — 7,600 potholes filled
As spring advances, the Department of Transportation has begun its seasonal resurfacing program.

The agency plans to repave 1,150 lane miles this year, a distance stretching from New York City to Miami, transitioning crews from pothole repairs to full-scale resurfacing throughout the spring, summer and fall.
