Snow may still be in the forecast, but Connecticut residents are going to witness a sea of green the week of March 7-14th when thousands of Girl Scouts participate in a variety of exciting activities as part of the national organization’s 114th birthday celebration. The annual commemoration is jam-packed with sports and entertainment events, community service activities and family fun, and Girl Scouts of Connecticut is encouraging the public to join in the festivities!

“During National Women’s History Month, the second week of March is always celebrated as Girl Scout Week and includes the official founding of the Girl Scouts organization on March 12, 1912 in Savannah Georgia,” explains Elicia Pegues Spearman, chief executive officer at Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

Spearman notes that Girl Scouts across Connecticut will take part in special events and learning experiences, including sisterhood celebrations, arts and design workshops, fashion and creativity programs, a Hartford Wolf Pack game night, meetings with lawmakers at the State Capitol, a musical at the Shubert Theater and a conversation with Girl Scouts of Connecticut CEO Elicia Pegues Spearman. Adult volunteers will also participate in training opportunities, and Girl Scouts alumni will enjoy a special cookie and beverage pairing event.

It’s a time for the girls to proudly reflect on our history as the oldest girl-led organization while looking expectantly toward the future.”
