Foot Chase Ends With Man’s Arrest In Connection With County-Wide Jewel Theft Spree: NCPD
A 60-year-old man had to be chased down on foot Friday night as police attempted to arrest him for a string of burglaries, police say.
NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A 60-year-old man is facing burglary and criminal mischief charges this week after police chased him down on foot and arrested him Friday night, police said.
Nassau County police said 60-year-old Bethlehem, PA resident Reginald Engram was arrested Friday night after an investigation found that he had broken into and stolen jewelry from several homes throughout Nassau County.
According to police, an investigation revealed that Engram was in New Hyde Park, with a brief foot pursuit taking place before his arrest. In the aftermath of the arrest, Engram was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

Engram is now facing six counts of second-degree burglary, one count of second-degree attempted burglary, a count of criminal mischief and a count of possession of burglar tools, police said.
His arraignment is not yet scheduled but will take place “when medically practical,” police said.
