‘Housing For Everyone’: New Hyde Park Nonprofit Gets $250K From TD Bank Charity

WellLife Network announced Wednesday that it had received a $250,000 "Housing for Everyone" grant from TD Bank.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — New Hyde Park-based nonprofit WellLife Network announced a lucrative round of funding Wednesday, as the nonprofit said it had received a $250,000 grant from TD Charitable Foundation, a charitable arm of TD Bank.

The grant, officials say, will inject funding into an organization that provides services to people with behavioral health conditions, intellectual or developmental disabilities, people experiencing substance abuse, children and families.

Specifically, the grant will fund WellLife’s Housing Preservation Program, officials said, an initiative designed to keep people out of eviction and ensure long-term housing stability for low-and moderate-income residents of supportive and affordable housing.

“Ensuring our residents, many of which are members of our most vulnerable communities, have a safe and stable environment to live is a crucial part of helping them achieve their goals and lead a happy and healthy life,” WellLife CEO Sherry Tucker said. “This grant from the TD Charitable Foundation will give us the boost we need to get our Housing Preservation Program off the ground and help more New Yorkers in our programs maintain a comfortable and structured place they can call home.”

Housing instability, the nonprofit said, is an issue being faced by families across the country as cost of living increases. For one member of the TD Charitable Foundation team, the chance to support WellLife is a chance to alleviate some of the pressure families are facing.

“Rising living costs and economic pressures continue to place renters—particularly those in low‑ to moderate‑income communities—at increased risk of housing instability,” TD Charitable Foundation Head of Social Impact at TD and Director Paige Carlson-Heim said. “That’s why supporting the eviction prevention and early intervention efforts of organizations like WellLife Network is so important. Their work empowers renters with the resources and guidance needed to remain housed, weather financial challenges, and build long‑term stability.”

The WellLife support is part of a $10 million grant initiative TD Charitable has put together this year, recognizing the 20th anniversary of the bank’s charitable initiative. It is, officials say, the largest Housing for Everyone investment TD has made yet.

WellLife officials said the funds will allow the nonprofit to reduce the risk Long Islanders face of eviction and increase the support services that can contribute to keeping people housed. The goal, they say, is to continue the programs made possible by this grant around even after funding has been exhausted.

“Over time, this program and infrastructure will be expanded across WellLife’s housing portfolio, advancing a consistent, prevention-focused model that keeps vulnerable New Yorkers stably housed and supported,” WellLife said.
