New Hyde Park Resident Hospitalized After Second-Floor House Fire: NCFM

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A New Hyde Park resident was hospitalized Sunday morning after a fire broke out on the second floor of their home just before 2 a.m., officials said.

According to the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office, the alarm was raised at 1:48 a.m. at a home on Pilgrim Street, with New Hyde Park Fire Department responding to the scene to find a blaze on the second floor of a two-story cape style home. Also sending personnel to the scene were the Floral Park, Garden City Park, Manhasset-Lakeville and South Floral Park fire departments. In total, officials said there were about 60 firefighters at the home, who brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.

In the aftermath of the blaze, five adults and two children are out of the home, and it is under investigation by the fire marshal investigators and NCPD arson/bomb detectives, officials said. Other than the one resident, no injuries were reported. Fire officials did not say what condition the hospitalized resident was in after the fire.
