Hurricane Brewing: Hudson Valley Impacts For Columbus Day Weekend Are Forecast

A potential hurricane is forming in the Gulf of Mexico. Here's how it could impact our region this weekend.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to become a hurricane and make landfall in the United States on Friday in the Gulf Coast.

The projected path of the storm takes Isaias through the southern and midwestern states, but the Hudson Valley is still expected to receive some impacts from the remnants of the tropical storm.

Before we have to deal with more rain, the forecast calls for plenty of sunshine Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of sprinkles in the northern parts of the region, on Thursday, late morning to early afternoon. Otherwise, the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 73.

Thursday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 51.

The sunny trend will continue on Friday, with a high near 69. Friday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 50, across most of the region

Sunny skies are expected on Saturday with a high near 68, changing over to partly cloudy, with a low around 54 that night.

The effects of Isaias will begin to be felt by Sunday, according to the NWS. A 30 percent chance of showers is forecast after 2 p.m. Showers are likely after 8 p.m. The evening will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 58, and a chance of precipitation of around 70 percent.

On Columbus Day, at times heavy, showers are likely, with mostly cloudy skies, and a high near 70.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 67.
