LI Blizzard Update: Close To 30 Whopping Inches Shatters Unofficial Record As Massive Storm Winds Down

LONG ISLAND, NY — As a blizzard that slammed Long Island Sunday into Monday begins to wind down, the National Weather Service has released new snowfall totals for the region.

According to the National Weather Service on X, up to 30 inches fell in the Central Islip area — breaking an unofficial record for largest snowstorm to hit Islip's MacArthur Airport since 1963. The previous highest total for that area in recent years was 27.8 inches in 2013, the NWS said.
