MATTITUCK, NY — The Mattituck-Cutchogue Junior Senior High School received top honors in a new report recently.

Based on the district’s outstanding programs, services and supports, distrit officials said, Mattituck-Cutchogue Junior Senior High School has been ranked 15th out of 71 high schools in Suffolk County by the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report.

"We are incredibly proud to see our high school recognized among the top schools in the county by U.S. News & World Report," said Superintendent of Schools Shawn Petretti. "Being ranked 15th is a reflection of the dedication of our students, teachers, staff and families who work together every day to create a culture of excellence. This recognition is an affirmation of the outstanding opportunities we provide our students and our continued commitment to preparing every student for success."

The organization assesses schools using six factors, the district said:

• College readiness (30 percent) — Based on AP/IB exam participation and performance.
• State assessment proficiency (20 percent) — Student performance in math, science and reading.
• State assessment performance relative to expectations (20 percent) — How students performed relative to expectations for the school’s underserved student population.
• Underserved student performance (10 percent) — How underserved students performed compared to their non-underserved peers statewide.
• Breadth of college-level coursework (10 percent) — The availability and breadth of college-level coursework across subjects.
• Four-year graduation rate (10 percent) — Based on the graduation rate for the class that entered ninth grade in 2020-2021.
