Riverhead High School Golfers Named Among Long Island’s Best

Senior Colby Baran and Sophomore Madison Marshak Continue to Impress

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK—Two Riverhead High School golfers were recently recognized among Long Island’s best. Senior Colby Baran was named to Newsday’s list of the top 10 Long Island high school boys golfers for the 2026 season, and sophomore Madison Marshak was named to Newsday’s list of the top 10 Long Island high school girls golfers for the 2026 season.

“The Riverhead Central School District congratulates Colby and Madison on achieving this exceptional honor,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Hagan. “We are proud to support an impressive golf program that continues to achieve on the course, collecting league championships and sending golfers to the New York State championship tournament.”

Colby Baran qualified for the state tournament and placed at the Suffolk County tournament the past three years, finishing second as a sophomore, third as a junior, and eighth this fall as a senior. He was a Newsday all-Long Island selection in 2024 and recognized on Newsday’s top players list throughout his career as a Blue Wave. Following his graduation, Colby plans to attend the University of Alabama and continue training on his own, with aspirations of playing professionally.

Madison Marshak finished seventh in the Suffolk County individual championships last season and, along with class of 2025 senior Angelina Gust, became the first Riverhead girls golfers to qualify for the state tournament. Madison is Riverhead’s number one girls golfer this season.
