LONG ISLAND, NY — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect across Long Island through 10 p.m. Saturday night, the National Weather Service said.

The watch is in effect not only for Suffolk and Nassau Counties, but for New York City, Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Rockland Counties, the NWS said.
