NORTH FORK, NY — After a blizzard socked the North Fork with up to 30 inches of snow this week, Hythe Southold Fire Department is kicking off a contest to keep the community safe.

The SFD is hosting a "Hydrant Cleaning Contest." To participate, clear a fire hydrant, 3-feet around, take a photo with you and the cleared hydrant, comment on the Southold Fire Department's Facebook post, or tag Southold FD on your Facebook or Instagram story.
"No drive-by photos — must be you," the FD said.
