Teen Arrested In Violent Library Assault That Left Victim With Head Injury: Police
A Haverstraw 19-year-old has been charged with felony assault, felony attempted assault, and felony menacing, according to Orangetown PD.

NYACK, NY — A teenager has been arrested in connection to an assault at the library.
On Tuesday, the Orangetown Police Detective Bureau arrested 19-year-old Dylan N. Lopez, of Haverstraw. He was charged with felony assault, felony attempted assault, and felony menacing, according to police. The arrest was made after an investigation into to a violent incident that took place on Friday, March 13, inside the Nyack Library.
One victim sustained injuries to his head, requiring medical attention, according to police.

"A brief altercation occurred between several library patrons. During the incident, one individual sustained a facial abrasion," the library said in a statement about the incident. "Following the altercation, the individuals involved left the building. Medical attention for the injured individual was provided off-site. Officers responded to the library shortly afterward, and the matter is currently being handled by local law enforcement."
Library officials insisted that the incident has been blown out of proportion.

"Recent media reports have characterized the incident as a 'violent attack' that resulted in serious head injuries," the library said, "While the situation was concerning and staff responded promptly, the injury reported to the library was minor."

Lopez was processed and arraigned before the Nyack Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Nyack Justice Court on March 23.
