New Sketch Released In Prospect Park Attack

PARK SLOPE— NYPD detectives are searching for a man accused of choking a 41-year-old woman and attempting to rape her in a wooded area of Prospect Park last week.

Police released a sketch of the suspect Friday night, days after the Sept. 16 attack near Wellhouse Drive and the Terrace Bridge.

The woman told police the man grabbed her neck and choked her, causing pain and difficulty breathing, according to investigators.

The woman and attacker did not know each other, police said.

The man fled on foot westbound along Wellhouse Drive after the attack, according to police.

The woman went to a local hospital for treatment and an examination and was listed in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as about 6 feet 2 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a light-colored short-sleeve shirt and khaki pants.

The attack occurred in the 78th Precinct, which covers Park Slope and includes Prospect Park.

NYPD park crime data show three felony assaults and one rape reported in Prospect Park during the third quarter of 2025, from July through September.

The park recorded no felony assaults and one rape during the second quarter.
