Patchogue Chamber Warns Of Scammer Passing Off Bogus $100 Bills

PATCHOGUE, NY — The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce is warning members about a suspect who is trying to use fraudulent $100 bills at local businesses.

The person is described as a man, in his mid to late-30s and is wearing a salmon-colored shirt, as well as carrying a bag. He is believed to be accompanied by a group, possibly including a woman and a child.

"Please remain vigilant and take extra care when accepting $100 bills," the chamber's executive director, Silvana Aloisio, wrote. "Be sure to carefully check bills for security features and follow your normal procedures for verifying large-denomination currency."

She also advised against accusing or confronting anyone based solely on this description.

"If you believe you have encountered fraudulent currency or suspicious activity, follow your business's established procedures and contact the appropriate authorities," she wrote.

"We are sharing this information as a precaution so our local business community can remain alert and protect one another," she said. "Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance."
