Captain Achieves Impressive Performances Against Connetquot and Sachem East

MEDFORD, NEW YORK—Patchogue-Medford High School girls basketball junior guard and captain Sophia Randazzo was recently named a Newsday “Hardwood Hero” for her exceptional performances against Connetquot High School and Sachem High School East. Sophia recorded 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals in a 67-59 win over Connetquot and added a team-high 13 points in the Raiders’ game against Sachem East.

“Sophia has been a steady force this season, showcasing her impact on both ends of the floor,” said Patchogue-Medford High School girls varsity basketball head coach Leighann Foley. “She combines skill, toughness, and basketball IQ to lead by example in big moments.”

This season, Sophia is averaging an impressive 11.6 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 2.7 steals per game, and 2.4 assists per game.

“Beyond the stat line, she is an outstanding leader and role model, setting the standard for work ethic, accountability, and team-first mentality,” said Coach Foley. “As she continues to grow as a player and leader, Sophia’s future, both on and off the court, is bright.”
