Senior Captain Honored for Elite Tumbling and Stunting

MEDFORD, NEW YORK—Patchogue-Medford High School senior Kara Yaccarino was recently named to Newsday’s list of the top 50 Long Island high school cheerleaders of the 2025-2026 season. A two-year captain and all-around terrific athlete, Kara is a standout base known for her elite tumbling and stunting skills. Newsday described Kara as leading “with poise and passion, setting the standard for performance and teamwork.”

“Kara received all-class honors for game day cheerleading in 2025 and won a Suffolk County Youth Cheerleading Association scholarship this fall,” said Patchogue-Medford High School varsity cheer coach Tina Trimis. “She is also a junior coach for our youth teams.”

Following her graduation from Patchogue-Medford High School, Kara will attend St. Joseph’s University, where she plans to major in elementary education.
