Public Hearing For NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk's Expansion Set For On Aug. 27.
Hospital officials propose a $650 million, 270,000-square-foot expansion at the East Patchogue facility, Brookhaven Town supervisor says.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — The design for the $650 million, 270,000-square-foot expansion of NYU Langone-Suffolk in East Patchogue, which is up for Brookhaven Town approval this month, was revealed to the public in Facebook post by Supervisor Dan Panico on Wednesday.
"Even more access to medical care is coming to Brookhaven," he wrote of the application, which will be discussed in a public hearing at Town Hall in Farmingville on Aug. 27.
"Attached is an architectural rendering of NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk, formerly Long Island Community Hospital and, before that, Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, submitted as part of the application for its proposed 270,000-square-foot expansion," he wrote.

"This project is part of a tremendous $650 million investment in the hospital, representing a major commitment to expanding and improving healthcare services for our community."
The hospital serves the South Shore, running between the Hamptons and Islip. It is one of four hospitals in the town.

A spokesman for the hospital declined further comment.
The public hearing is set to begin at 3 p.m.
