Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: A 'Growing' Need For Garden Stewards

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Professional Development Event Setup

Family Services of Westchester's Port Chester Head Start Center staff members are looking for assistance with their upcoming professional development event. Volunteers are needed to help with set up and clean up and additional tasks. This is a great opportunity for volunteers ages 16+ who need community service hours!
Date: 8/24 from 3-5 p.m. and 8/25 from 3-4 p.m.

Garden Stewards

Building Eden Farms is looking for volunteers to manage a specific quadrant of the garden. Garden Stewards will tend and watch over their quadrant while working alongside Peekskill Regeneration Farm to grow this community space together. Join an upcoming Garden Steward Training to learn more about this role and its responsibilities! Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: 8/26 from 6-7:30 p.m.

After-School Creativity Academy

Every afternoon, young people come to New Era Creative Space looking for a safe, creative, and welcoming environment where they can learn, build confidence, and discover their talents. Caring and enthusiastic volunteers are needed to help walk students safely from school or designated bus stops; support teachers during art, music, and STEM workshops; assist with homework help, games, and snack time; and assist with classroom setup and cleanup. This is a perfect activity for volunteers who are 16+.
Date: Weekdays from 3-6 p.m.
