Family Of 7 Displaced After Plainview House Fire – 'Serious Damage:' NCFM

Fire marshals say four adults and three children self-evacuated.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A family of seven – four adults and 3 children – was displaced after a house fire on Wednesday morning in Plainview, fire marshals said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said Nassau County FireCom received 911 calls at 7:40 a.m and the Plainview Fire Department responded to the Edi Ct. house.

There is serious damage to the house, fire marshals said. The fire was brought under control within 60 minutes with 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

No injuries were reported, and the residents self-evacuated, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, one hydrant was clear of snow, and another was not, although they said digging it out did not hamper firefighting efforts. Smoke alarms were present and operated as required, fire marshals said.

Plainview FD received mutual aid assistance from fire departments from Melville, Farmingdale, Westbury, Hicksville, Syosset, and Bethpage – all under Chief Andrew Cohen of Plainview FD, fire marshals said.

NCFM Investigators were on scene along with NCPD Arson/Bomb detectives, and the Town of Oyster Bay Building Dept was on scene to evaluate the damage to the house, fire marshals said. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, fire marshals said.
