Mineola School's $114M Budget Passes By Landslide

The district has announced the results of its budget and board of education election.

MINEOLA, NY — The Mineola School District's 2026-2027 budget passed on Tuesday.

The budget of $114,419,374 was passed by a vote of 1,441 to 348.

The budget carries a proposed tax levy increase of 2.36 percent, which is right at the district's allowable tax levy cap.

Proposition 2, Capital Reserve Authorization, passed by a vote of 1,509 to 262.

Proposition 3, Establish New Capital Reserve, passed by a vote of 1,383 to 369.

Stephen Loewenthal, with 892 votes, and Alecia W. Pace, with 772 votes, were elected to the school's Board of Education.

The race was contested against challengers Robert Citro, Jr., who received 725 votes, Stacy L. Tyson, who received 615 votes, Margaret A. Ballantyne, who received 302 votes, Ana Senra-Silva, who received 93 votes, and Carla Anelante, who received 53 votes.
