Edna Louise Spear Elementary School proudly celebrated the outstanding achievement of 28 fourth and fifth-grade students who recently competed in the 9th Annual Suffolk Zone Fit Club Competition, a county-wide fitness event sponsored by NYS AHPERD-Suffolk Zone.

Competing against 30 schools from across Suffolk County, the Edna Louise Spear team earned a 10th-place finish in the highly competitive event that promotes teamwork, physical fitness, perseverance, and healthy lifestyles among elementary students.

The Suffolk Zone Fit Club Competition is uniquely designed “For Kids, By Kids,” with student volunteers helping organize and run the event. The program encourages young athletes to discover their physical and mental strength while developing confidence, collaboration, and lifelong healthy habits. Throughout the day, students participated in challenging fitness-based events that tested endurance, agility, strength, and teamwork.
