The Baxter’s Pond Foundation (BPF) is celebrating Earth Day! Join us on Saturday April 25:
(1) We’ll have a table at the Port Washington Public Library’s Annual Earth Day Celebration from noon until 4 pm in the Lapham Room. Come find us, learn more about our work, and take part in a kid-friendly craft.
(2) We’ll co-host a “biobilitz” with Transition Town Port Washington’s youth activists, who will guide nature walks at Baxter’s Pond as part of the iNaturalist City Challenge. From 2-4 pm participants will learn how to use the iNaturalist app to document the Pond & Park’s flora and fauna. By collecting data with our smartphones and uploading it to the iNaturalist database, we will be contributing to the world’s largest community science biodiversity census. Sign up for the bioblitz here.
Join us to help build a clearer picture of our local ecosystems! Even a single observation contributes to a growing collective understanding of the living landscape around us and empowers care, restoration, and protection.
