Body Found In Rubble After NYC Home Explosion That Injured NYPD Officers

Eight police officers were injured in the blast.

QUEENS, NY — A body was found in the rubble of a Queens home after an explosion injured several police officers who were responding to an alleged domestic dispute.

The discovery of the body came a day after the explosion at 107-55 130th Street.

The suspect, identified as Anroop Parasram, 50, remains unaccounted for and the body has not been identified yet.

According to police, Parasram forced his way into the home and dumped plastic bags filled with canisters.

A family member called 911 and told police that the man arrived to the home intoxicated and was armed with a knife.

There was also the smell of gas in the home.

Parasram's daughter and his two grandchildren managed to escape the home shortly after.

The 50-year-old threatened his wife with the knife before she was also able to escape to safety.

Parasram's wife then gave police the key to the home.

As police attempted to enter the home, an explosion caused multiple officers to be thrown off their feet, with some being launched into gates at the front of the residence.

Eight police officers were injured and treated for burns. One officer needed stitches for a laceration to his head.

Five other individuals suffered injuries.

Sixteen people were displaced after the incident and the Red Cross is offering support.

An investigation remains ongoing.
