Jim Henson's Creature Shop In NYC Opens For Tours: What To Know

Fans will get a behind-the-scenes look at where some of the world's most famous puppet characters have been made.

QUEENS, NY — Legendary Muppets creator and puppeteer Jim Henson’s personal studio in Queens is opening its doors to the public for the first time.

Henson’s Creature Shop in Long Island City is giving fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at the creative hub where award-winning artists and makers have created hundreds of the world’s most famous puppet characters, including stars from Fraggle Rock, The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas, and many more.

Tickets cost $150 and features an 80-minute tour which runs on Saturdays.

Fans get photo opportunities with beloved characters, a live puppetry demonstration from an actual Henson puppeteer, a meet and greet with one of the Creature Shop's talented puppet builders, among other things.
