Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Parts Of LI; Could Bring 80 MPH Winds Saturday Night: NWS
"Take shelter," the NWS says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — A severe thunderstorm warning, with damaging winds of up to 80 miles per hour possible, is in effect for parts of Long Island Saturday night, the National Weather Service said.
The warning is in effect until 9:45 p.m., the NWS.
According to Matthew Wunsch, meteorologist with the NWS, the storms began around Smithtown and are moving east, with the strongest winds on the north shore.

Residents are urged to take shelter in a sturdy building, away from windows; flying debris can be deadly for those caught without shelter, the NWS said.
