Phil Weiser, formerly of Hastings, wins Democratic primary for Governor of Colorado

Phil was my first campaign manager for Greenburgh Town Supervisor 35 years ago!

Former Hastings on Hudson resident Phil Weiser, who managed my first campaign for Greenburgh Town Supervisor 35 years ago, won the Democratic nomination for Governor of Colorado on June 30,2026. Weiser beat US Senator Michael Bennett for the nomination.

Weiser also helped oversee my successful transition from Westchester County Legislator to Town Supervisor after I won that election. Phil then went to NYU Law School.

On Tuesday June 30th Weiser won the Democratic nomination for Governor of Colorado. Weiser, the current Attorney General of Colorado, previously served as a Clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

Five years ago, Weiser spoke with Greenburgh summer student interns by zoom. Because of the pandemic former Town Clerk Judith Beville (coordinator of the internship program), the student interns and I were wearing masks.

Weiser is among the most brilliant strategists and public servants I have ever worked with. I hope that Greenburgh students will have other opportunities to interact with him in the future.
