Suspended License At Traffic Stop Soon Leads To Cache Of Coke, Fentanyl, Drug Trafficking Charges: NYSP

YONKERS, NY — A traffic stop in Westchester County uncovered far more than a few traffic violations, according to police.

On Monday, members of State Police Troop T, SP Tarrytown and Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Brad M. Columbus, 41, and Danielle Marie Ostrom, 37, both of Schenectady, on felony drug possession charges.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., troopers stopped a 2017 Honda Civic on the New York State Thruway (I-87) northbound in Yonkers. Troopers said that the driver, identified as Columbus, was driving without a valid driver’s license.

During the investigation, troopers report finding glassine envelopes containing suspected fentanyl and approximately 2.3 grams of cocaine, along with several other varieties and amounts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to NYSP.

Columbus was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, felony intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance sixth degree and traffic violations .

Ostrom was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth degree, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth degree, and issued one traffic violation

Columbus and Ostrom were arraigned in Yonkers City Court and released on their own recognizance.
