Uniondale Man Facing Attempted Kidnapping Charge After Approaching Child With Money, Police Say

A Uniondale man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he attempted to lure a child into a home, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — A Uniondale man is facing attempted kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child charges Thursday after he attempted to lure an 11-year-old boy into a home with money on Tuesday, police said.

Nassau County police said 51-year-old Maple Grove Avenue resident Nelson Acevedo was arrested Wednesday afternoon after the Tuesday incident, which took place near the intersection of Chester and Front Streets in Uniondale. According to police, Acevedo grabbed the boy’s wrist to prevent him from running away before the boy pulled his arm away and walked to Front Street.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said. Acavedo is charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child and will be arraigned Thursday, police said.
