This Week In Rockville Centre: Bank Fire, Hit And Runs, Collapsing Cesspool, Police Say
The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly crime report Monday.
The Rockville Centre Police Department released its crime report for the previous week Monday, reporting 12 items between Mar. 2 and Mar. 9. The items listed are as follows:
On Mar. 2 at 10 p.m., 24-year-old Justin Millien of Queens Village was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after getting into an accident on North Village Avenue, police said. Court documents show Millien’s first court appearance is scheduled for Mar. 19.
On Mar. 3, police said an apartment fire broker out at a Banks Avenue building, but was contained by the building’s sprinkler system. Police said the damage from the fire was limited to the apartment where it broke out and did not report any injuries as a result of the fire.

On Mar. 3 at 12:05 p.m., 56-year-old Copiague resident Thomas Cummings was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and second-degree assault after punching a police officer who had attempted to arrest him after discovering him sleeping in a North Park Avenue building, police said.
On Mar. 4 at 9:09 a.m., a car was reported on fire on North Village Avenue, but fire department personnel were able to extinguish the fire without it causing any injuries, police said.

On Mar. 5 at 9:16 p.m., a South Long Beach Road resident said his neighbor had been going through his mailbox, police said.
On Mar. 6 at 6:25 a.m., an Ongley Street resident said there was a large cavity in front of his building that had been caused by a collapsing cesspool, police said.
On Mar. 6 at 12:32 p.m., a Pine Street resident said someone had opened several bank accounts and taken out loans in his name, police said.
On Mar. 6 at 5:15 p.m., 59-year-old Massapequa resident Paris Jackson was arrested and charged with petit larceny after stealing a pair of RayBan Meta glasses from Cohen’s Fashion Optical the day before, police said.
On Mar. 6 at 8:15 p.m., a Rockville Centre resident said he’d been involved in a hit and run accident, with the other vehicle fleeing the scene of the crash, police said.
On Mar. 7 at 4:26 p.m., police said a Holtsville resident reported a theft from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the Rockville Centre sports complex, located on Peninsula Boulevard.
On Mar. 7 at 6:05 p.m., a Wantagh resident said his vehicle had also had property stolen from it while parked at the Rockville Centre sports complex on Peninsula Boulevard, police said.
On Mar. 8 at 7:21 p.m., police said a passerby called in flooding at a vacant house located on Devon Road, which police said was caused by a second-floor broken pipe.
