This Week In Rockville Centre: Oceanside Road Hit-And-Run, Home Goods Merchandise Thefts, Police Say

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly crime and safety report Monday, detailing arrests and incidents within the village over the prior week.

The items listed are as follows:

On June 29 at 3:39 p.m., a Muirfield Road woman said someone had altered and cashed a check that she had mailed, police said.

On June 30 at 9:10 a.m., an Oceanside woman said she had been involved in a hit-and-run crash on Oceanside Road where the other vehicle left the scene, police said.

On July 1 at 1:03 p.m., 43-year-old Baldwin resident Marcellis Mays was arrested and charged with petit larceny after he was accused of stealing merchandise from Home Goods, police said.

On July 1 at 6:19 p.m., 43-year-old Hempstead resident Meghann Jones was arrested and charged with petit larceny after she was accused of stealing from Home Goods in a separate incident from the one involving Mays, police said.

On July 3 at 10:49 a.m., a Winding Road resident said someone had made fraudulent transactions on her debit card, police said.

On July 3 at 10:45 p.m., 54-year-old Baldwin resident Shawn Saroop was arrested and charged with a DWI after a crash on Merrick Road, police said.

On July 5 at 3:06 p.m., a 71-year-old Lakeview Avenue man was found dead in his home, police said.
