This Week In Rockville Centre: Unlocked Bike Theft, Phony Bank Accounts, Burglary, Police Say

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — The Rockville Centre Police Department released its weekly report Monday, detailing arrests and incidents in the village over the prior week.

The items listed are as follows:

On July 14 at 3:51 p.m., a Sherman Avenue man reported bank accounts being opened in his name by an unknown individual without authorization, police said.

On July 14 at 7:20 p.m., Rockville Centre resident Joseph Preldakaj was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and making graffiti, police said. All three charges stemmed from a burglary that had occurred earlier this month, police said.

On July 15 at 11:35 p.m., a Banks Avenue resident said his car had been broken into, with the thief taking his wallet and all of its contents, using the credit cards in the wallet to make fraudulent purchases, police said.

On July 16, a North Centre Avenue resident said they had been the victim of a cellphone scam resulting in monetary loss, police said.

On July 16 at 3:15 p.m., a North Long Beach Road resident reported his bike being stolen from Old Mill Court after he left it unlocked and unattended, police said.

On July 16 at 6:31 p.m., a Bethpage motorist said someone had struck her car while it was parked and fled the scene, police said.

On July 17 at 11:25 a.m., police found three stolen vehicles near a Banks Avenue address, police said.

On July 18 at 3:01 p.m., a South Hempstead commuter said someone had stolen their bicycle, which they had left locked at the Long Island Railroad station.
