Brookhaven Officials Adjust Sanitation Schedule Amid Expected Heatwave

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Brookhaven officials have adjusted the town's sanitation schedule to protect the health and safety of
sanitation personnel due to the expected heatwave this week.
Garbage collection services scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3 will begin at 5 a.m.
- The adjusted schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, July 1: Recycling collection will begin at 5 a.m. - Thursday, July 2: Household refuse collection will begin at 5 a.m.
- Friday, July 3: Household refuse collection will begin at 5 a.m
Residents are strongly encouraged to place household refuse at the curb earlier than usual to ensure timely pickup prior to the onset of hazardous midday temperatures. The town emphasized that early preparation by homeowners will support uninterrupted service and safeguard sanitation crews working under elevated heat conditions.
