In-Person & Virtual Haudenosaunee Women: From SkyWoman to Suffrage

From the Creation Story and SkyWoman, Perry Ground will discuss the responsibilities women play in the culture, government, and communities of the Haudenosaunee. Comparing these responsibilities and freedoms to those of American women, the role that Haudenosaunee women played in influencing the ideas of early suffragists will be discussed as well as connections to modern traditions and issues, such as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement. This is a Zoom presentation that will be shown in the library or can be viewed from home. For virtual viewing please call the library at 631-567-5079 to register.  In-person viewing: No registration required
