Pickup Truck Careens Into Oakdale Store; 2 Hospitalized: FD

OAKDALE, NY — Two drivers were hospitalized after a pickup truck struck a sedan and crashed into a building in Oakdale on Monday morning, according to the West Sayville Fire Department.

The pickup truck was traveling west on Montauk Highway when its driver suffered a medical emergency and struck an eastbound white sedan, pinning that vehicle’s driver, fire officials said.

The pickup then lost its front driver’s-side wheel and careened into Action Sports Ski Shop.

Firefighters assisted the pickup driver, secured the truck and assessed the damage to the building. Another crew removed the sedan’s driver-side door to reach and treat its driver, officials said.

Crews later used a winch to remove the pickup from the building.

Both drivers were taken by Community Ambulance Company to local hospitals with minor injuries, the department said.
