William Floyd High School Junior Dies After Medical Emergency: District

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones as they deal with this tragedy."

MASTIC BEACH, NY — Tragedy cloaked the William Floyd School District Monday as news spread that a student had died.

According to a message from the district: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that one of our students, William Floyd High School junior Hajir Barthelemy, passed away due to a medical incident."

The message added: "The loss of a student is always a tragedy, one that deeply affects family, friends, and the entire school community."

Crisis and grief counselors are available for students who are struggling with the news, the district said.

"We have also reached out to Hajir’s family to express our condolences and to offer any support that they may need during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones as they deal with this tragedy," the district said.
