1 Construction Worker Killed, 2 Injured In Nesconset Crash: Police

3 contractors working on a Suffolk County paving project were struck early Monday; the driver is in custody, police said.

NESCONSET, NY — One construction worker was killed and two others were injured after they were struck by a vehicle in Nesconset early Monday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The three workers, all men, were struck at the intersection of Townline Road and Terry Road at about 6:43 a.m., police said.

One worker was pronounced dead after being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital. A second worker suffered serious injuries, while the third suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

The workers were contractors working for Suffolk County on a paving project at the time of the crash, police said.

The driver, also a man, was taken into custody, according to police. Police did not immediately say whether charges had been filed.
