LAKE GROVE, NY — After years of relying on portable space heaters to keep their home warm, a Lake Grove couple is heading into the colder months with a new heating and cooling system, thanks to a program aimed at helping homeowners facing hardships.

Jeri and Alvin Miller received a free, high-efficiency HVAC system through Lennox's Feel the Love campaign, in partnership with HomeServe. The system was installed at their home on Oct. 21.

Jeri nominated her family for the program as she and her husband navigate challenges related to Alvin's dementia diagnosis, which has left him unable to work.

The Millers are both retired and had been using portable space heaters for several years because of the condition of their home's heating system, raising concerns about their comfort as winter approached.

"It's rare you see people doing things for others these days," Jeri said. "HomeServe showed up with a smile on their faces - they were wonderful, warm and professional all while ensuring I stay warm this winter."

Lennox's Feel the Love program provides free heating and cooling systems to homeowners in need. Each year, community nominations help determine recipients, including families facing financial hardship, educators, first responders, healthcare workers and others recognized for their contributions.

Through the initiative, Lennox works with participating dealers and volunteers to provide equipment and installation services to selected homeowners.

For the Millers, the installation means greater peace of mind and the prospect of a more comfortable home throughout the year.

"I am looking forward to a warmer winter, cooler summers and just being more comfortable in my home knowing that I was gifted this brand new system," Jeri said.
