Free Trunk Or Treat Returns To Smithtown Town Hall

SMITHTOWN, NY — Costumes, candy and Halloween festivities will return to Smithtown Town Hall next month for the town’s third annual Trunk or Treat.

The free family event is scheduled for Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Town Hall parking lot.

Hosted by the Town of Smithtown Youth Bureau and the Supervisor’s Office, the event will feature trunk-or-treating, games, music and other family-friendly activities.

“Trunk or Treat has become such a fun tradition for our families, and every year our Town departments somehow find a way to make it bigger and more creative,” Supervisor Ed Wehrheim said. “What makes it even more special is that so many of our Town employees volunteer their own time to decorate, hand out treats and give our kids an afternoon they’ll remember. That says a lot about the people who work for this Town and how much they care about the community they serve. Get the costumes ready, bring the kids and don’t miss it!”

Town departments will be joined by the Youth Advisory Board, local school districts, the Smithtown Fire Department, Smithtown Sunrise Rotary Club, Smithtown Performing Arts Center, Smithtown Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

Participating groups will decorate vehicles with Halloween-themed displays as children make their way from trunk to trunk collecting candy and taking part in games and activities.

“Events like this showcase what makes our community so special—families coming together, local partners pitching in, and everyone working to create a safe, festive space for children,” Smithtown Youth Bureau Executive Director Janine Marc-Anthony said. “We’re proud to continue this tradition and so thankful to all who make it possible.”

The event will also include an optional toiletry collection for people in need. Residents can donate new, unopened items including shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, body wash, deodorant, soap, razors and shaving cream.
