Man Dies After Fiery Crash In Suffolk Driveway: Police

The car veered down an embankment and caught fire, police say.

NISSEQUOGUE, NY — A man was killed in a Nissequogue crash Friday afternoon, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Pheasant Run at about 3:40 p.m.

A man driving a 2002 Hyundai XG 350 was heading down a driveway at a home, located on Pheasant Run, when he left the pavement and drove off the driveway down a rear-yard embankment, police said.

The vehicle came to a stop and then caught fire, police said.

Detectives are investigating if the undercarriage struck an object, which caused the vehicle to go up in flames, police said.

The man exited the vehicle, where he collapsed, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Detectives have not identified the man, police said.

The vehicle will be impounded for a safety check.
