Duo Accused Of False Reporting After Crash Into Pole: Police
Although the woman initially said she was driving, it was actually the man at the wheel, police say.
RIVERSIDE, NY — A man and woman were arrested and charged after falsely reporting the details of a Riverside crash recently, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place on Monday at about 3:24 p.m. Southampton Town police community response officers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a pole in the vicinity of Lakeview Drive and Lake Avenue in Riverside, authorities said.
Upon arrival officers found a man, woman, and a juvenile in the vehicle; no injuries were reported, police said.

The woman identified herself as the driver, police said.
On Tuesday, at about 1:40 p.m., the man and woman went to Southampton Town police headquarters and reported that the man was, in fact, was operating the vehicle, police said.

Thomas McGregor, 30, and Jessica McGregor, 27, both of Mastic, were arrested and charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement, a misdemeanor, police said.
