Man, 75, Drowns In Backyard Pool In Suffolk: Police

He died Friday night, police say.

STONY BROOK, NY — A man drowned in a backyard pool in Stony Brook Friday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at a home on Malverne Lane at about 7:45 p.m.

Sixth Precinct officers responded to the home after a 911 caller reported that a family member, Anthony Izzo, 75, was found unresponsive in a pool, police said.

Officers and members of the Stony Brook Fire Department pulled the man from the pool and performed CPR, police said.

Izzo, who lived at the home, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives said they believed the incident was non-criminal in nature.
