5 Injured After Street Sweeper Crashes On The UES, Police Say
Medics on the scene took five injured people to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A street-sweeping truck injured five people when it lost control and crashed into scaffolding and several cars on Monday night on the Upper East Side, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, the truck, an official Department of Sanitation street sweeper, veered into the scaffolding at 1849 Second Ave., at the corner of East 96th Street, at 8:49 p.m. on Monday.
Medics on the scene took five injured people — who were inside the cars — to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, authorities said.

The driver of the street sweeper stayed on the scene, police said.
Police said the cause of the incident is under investigation and that no criminality is suspected.
