This September, international advocacy organization Global Citizen is activating its mission to end poverty and defend the planet right here in New York City, with opportunities to volunteer in the lead-up to the 2026 Global Citizen Festival.

Global Citizen, in partnership with the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, will host a shoreline cleanup at Dubos Point Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, September 20th.

This initiative offers a hands-on way to defend the planet and help protect New York City’s coastline. Global citizens who participate can earn free festival tickets by helping to remove trash and marine debris from the shoreline, contributing to a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Dubos Point Wildlife Sanctuary for wildlife and future generations. Together, we’ll uplift community stewardship and demonstrate the power of local action to drive meaningful environmental change and defend the planet.

CALLING ALL CAREGIVERS 
Our FREE YMCA Caring for Caregivers support group program is now entering its second year, and we are looking forward to seeing new and returning members in our meetings at the Long Island City YMCA and for other in-person and online events this year.
In our program, the focus is on the caregivers.
Caregivers often give up a lot in their own lives, while caring for others. Many caregivers feel strong emotions due to caregiving pressures. 
We support you to take care of yourself better AND get more assistance in your caregiving role from state, city, and community resources.
Then you can feel better about your caregiving, minimize burnout, and feel more fulfilled in your own life.
