UWS Sweetgreen Shuttered By Health Department, Records Show

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — City officials have ordered a Sweetgreen on Amsterdam Avenue near West 75th Street to close for racking up 39 violations during a health inspection, records show.

The Sweetgreen, located at 311 Amsterdam Ave., was ordered to close on Monday after inspectors reported roaches and improper food safety controls, according to publicly available city records.

The closure comes after the restaurant was cited for 26 violations in May of this year.

Here's the full list of Sweetgreen's violations from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene:

• Establishment is not free of harborage or conditions conducive to rodents, insects or other pests.
• Live roaches in facility's food or non-food area.
• Non-food contact surface or equipment made of unacceptable material, not kept clean, or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit.
• Anti-siphonage or back-flow prevention device not provided where required; equipment or floor not properly drained; sewage disposal system in disrepair or not functioning properly. Condensation or liquid waste improperly disposed of.

The restaurant will need to correct the violations before it can reopen.
