3 Dead, 11 Injured In Upper Manhattan Fire, FDNY Says

INWOOD, NY — Three people died, and 11 more were injured during an overnight fire on Monday in upper Manhattan, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started after midnight, around 12:35 a.m., on the second floor of a six-story building located at 207 Dyckman St. between Vermilyea Avenue and Broadway.

Nearly 200 firefighters and medics responded to the blaze, which was brought under control nearly three hours later, the FDNY said.

According to the FDNY, medics treated 14 patients in total, including three residents who died at the scene.

Five more residents were taken to local hospitals in severe condition, and the rest of the patients, one of whom was a firefighter, had minor injuries, fire department officials said.

The FDNY's fire marshals are on the scene investigating the cause of the fire, FDNY officials said.
