2026 Rosemarie Siragusa Youth Service Award Nominations Now Open

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Now is your chance to help recognize someone who is helping to build the future in our community,

Westchester County residents have until Sept. 9 to nominate adults for the 2026 Rosemarie Siragusa Memorial Youth Service Award, an annual honor recognizing volunteer work that supports children, youth and families.

"One of Westchester’s biggest assets is its young people, but not every young person grows up in a stable, supportive environment that allows them to flourish and become a productive member of the community," Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said. "Fortunately, we have exemplary residents throughout the County who are dedicated to a better quality of life for these young people and their families. For 14 years, we have taken time to honor a small number of these special residents who are nominated by their peers, friends and family. I encourage everyone to help us find these unsung heroes."

The Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Board announced the opening of nominations for the award, which has been presented each year since 2012 in memory of Rosemarie Siragusa, founder and first chair of the Westchester County Youth Board. The award is given to up to three adult youth advocates in Westchester County who demonstrate dedication through volunteer service.

"For many years, the Rosemarie Siragusa Memorial Youth Service Award has stood as a proud tradition of the Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Board, celebrating the extraordinary individuals who dedicate their lives to empowering young people," Westchester County Youth Bureau Executive Director Ernest McFadden said. "Imbedded in the belief that every act of service has the power to kindle hope and inspire possibility, the award recognizes individuals whose compassion, leadership and unwavering commitment help shape brighter futures for youth and their families throughout Westchester County. Such selfless efforts not only uplift the next generation but also strengthen the bonds of our communities, creating a lasting legacy of opportunity and hope for tomorrow."

Nominations must be received by Sept. 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. The county said the nomination form can be accessed and submitted through its online link for the 2026 Rosemarie Siragusa Youth Service Award. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.

"Rosemarie Siragusa taught us that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the lives we touch," Youth Board Chairperson Dr. Alexandria Connally said. "This award honors those who continue her legacy by opening doors, inspiring hope and creating opportunities for the next generation.
