HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Lower Hudson Valley, courtesy of Volunteer New York!. This is a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Heartsong provides a unique program of art, dance, and music therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities. Volunteers are needed to assist with the Saturday program as participants build up their social skills, language, self-esteem, fine motor skills, and more. This is the perfect project for teens 15+.
Date: Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m.; volunteers especially needed on 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, and 8/1

Volunteers will discover the many ways that they can make a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs through Pegasus's therapeutic riding program. Following the orientation, volunteers will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer roles that match their interests, schedule, and experience. No horse experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and a desire to help others!
Date: 6/24 from 3-6 p.m.

Location: BrewsterSummer Co-Op PrepHelp STEM Alliance prepare for its Summer 2026 Co-Op program for children and families! Volunteers will load and sort boxes and supplies in preparation for the family-friendly activities. Great for teens 16+.

The American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter, which covers Westchester and Rockland Counties, is hosting a virtual information sessions for prospective volunteers who may want to join the Disaster Action Team. The Disaster Action Team helps people displaced by fires and other disasters. Volunteers must be 18+.
