A Tale Of Being Shot In The Knee By A Stranger At The Front Door Led Cops To Guns, Drugs, Mushrooms
A 47-year-old resident of Narcissus Drive, in Somers, soon found himself charged with a slew of felonies, according to state police.
SOMERS, NY — A fantastic tale of a random gun violence led to a stash of hallucinogens and firearms, according to cops in Westchester County,
The New York State Police say that troopers were dispatched to a home on Narcissus Drive, in the town of Somers, on Friday, just after midnight, after a report of a man who had been shot.
At the scene, troopers interviewed the victim, identified as 47-year-old John A. Fiore, who told state police that he had opened the front door of his home and saw an unknown man standing on the front steps. Fiore told troopers that the man fired a single round from a handgun, striking him in the left knee.

However, an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers found that Fiore's gunshot wound was self-inflicted, and that the whole thing was a lie.
A search warrant at Fiore's home led to the seizure of firearms, including two that had been reported stolen; psilocybin mushrooms, and several baggies containing a white powdery substance.

Fiore was charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; seven felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon; felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; six felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; two misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and misdemeanor third-degree falsely reporting an incident.
On Saturday, Fiore was arraigned before a Westchester County judge and remanded to custody.
He remains hospitalized due to his injuries and was scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on Monday evening.
The New York State Police thanked the Carmel Police Department, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, and the Westchester County Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.
