In commemoration of the United States’ 250th&nbsp;anniversary, join Dr. Chris E. Fonvielle Jr., Professor Emeritus, Dept. of History at UNCW, who will focus on the first of three cruises covering the decline of the great British Empire after the French and Indian War in 1763 and the rise of a great nation by 1887.&nbsp; We will look at the deteriorating relationship between the British colonies and the mother country and the coming of the American Revolutionary War in the Lower Cape Fear. Dr. Fonville will share interesting anecdotes and facts that you may not have known.&nbsp; A splendid time is guaranteed for all.&nbsp; The three cruises will be March 22, April 26, and May 24. $45. Boarding 15 minutes prior. This is a 90 minute cruise.

Start your day on the water in search of wildlife and many of our feathered friends while Captain Doug Spring shares his vast knowledge about the rich history of this area. This 90 minute cruise is a rewarding experience as you learn about Wilmington and our precious wildlife while enjoying a peaceful morning ride on our safe and relaxing catamaran. Visit our full bar for a freshly brewed cup of coffee or for the best Bloody Mary on the river.
The Northeast Cape Fear River is still largely unpopulated and looks much as it did when Wilmington was colonized in the late 1600s. We cruise through the Castle Hayne Aquifer and by the bluffs of the Rose Hill Plantation.
This excursion is comfortable and inspirational. Photographers, birders, and nature buffs love the variety of wildlife and native plants that adorn the river banks. You may possibly see osprey, alligators, sea turtles, and river otters, just to name a few. Bring your camera to capture the untouched beauty of this early morning adventure.&nbsp; This cruise is on the first Saturday of the month May through October (excluding July 4)This is a 90 minute cruise $30. Boarding is 15 minutes prior to departure.
