Ernie Ruder of Brecksville died last week at the age of 80.

Ruder was a friend and companion to the late Joan Allen and a mentor to her son Trevor, as well as a friend to Joy and John Sweeney and Barb and Dave Falkenberg. He worked as an artist at American Greetings for 40 years and was a U.S. Army veteran.

There are no services, but donations can be made in Ruder’s memory to the Meals on Wheels program at the .
